Understanding NEXAVAR

NEXAVAR will not cure your cancer, but it has been shown to slow or temporarily stop the growth or spread of certain cancer cells. This is called stable disease. Progressive disease is cancer that is growing or spreading. In clinical studies, stable disease was the most common response to NEXAVAR. Be sure to talk to your healthcare professional about whether you might benefit from treatment with NEXAVAR.

What is NEXAVAR?

NEXAVAR is an oral anticancer medication available only by prescription. NEXAVAR has not been studied in children.

NEXAVAR has been studied in patients with liver cancer that cannot be treated with surgery, in patients with advanced kidney cancer, and in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC, a type of thyroid cancer) that can no longer be treated with radioactive iodine. Only you and your healthcare provider can decide if treatment is right for you.

How should I take NEXAVAR?

Take NEXAVAR exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to take it. The recommended daily dose of NEXAVAR is 2 tablets taken 2 times a day (for a total of 4 tablets each day). Your healthcare professional may change your dose during treatment or stop treatment for some time if you have side effects. Take NEXAVAR without food (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal). If you miss a dose of NEXAVAR, skip the missed dose, and take your next dose at your regular time. Do not double your dose of NEXAVAR. If you take too much NEXAVAR, call your doctor or go to the nearest hospital emergency room right away.
